Peter Batini

Principal

Peter is an specialist in the disability services sector and the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.  He provides information, insight and strategy advice on the NDIS, the WA NDIS developments as well as other emerging agendas, such as the potential impacts of the legislation, policy, procurement, contractual, financial and quality management processes.

Peter has held senior leadership roles in government and in the disability sector. He served with the Government of Western Australia, Disability Services Commission (DSC) for over 30 years during which he undertook wide range of roles. He was Regional Director of the DSC’s South West and North Metropolitan regions and was the Chief Clinical Psychologist from 2000 to 2012.  He contributed to the contract planning, contract formation, contract management, quality assurance and the development of disability services. Peter was later Executive Director of the Contracting Directorate from February 2008 to October 2012 and then initiated and directed the Disability Justice Service until January 2014. Peter was a member of the Corporate Executive and Senior Executive Service for over 14 years.

Since leaving the DSC, Peter has held a number of roles including 30 months as Manager: Sector Knowledge & Development for Activ Foundation – one of WA’s largest disability services providers and he is currently working part-time with Nulsen Disability Services, providing advice to the senior management and board. He is also a ministerial appointee to the WA Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability.

He holds a Bachelor of Psychology and a Master in Applied Psychology (1980). Peter completed the Public Sector Executive Development Year (1990), Certificate in Government Procurement and has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors course (GAICD), 2006. During 1994 he completed a Churchill Fellowship in de-institutionalisation and the development of community-based services, visiting the USA and Canada for three months.
