Susan Pascoe AM

Susan Pascoe AM is a well-respected leader with a broad range of experience across Not-for-profit, charity, education and public sector policy and regulation. She was most recently Inaugural Commissioner of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and has academic qualifications within the field of Education, Health, Government and the Not -for-Profit sector. In recognition of her contribution to Not-for-profit and charities regulation in Australia, in 2016 Susan won the Leadership in Government Award for her outstanding contributions.

With over 40 years of professional experience, Susan’s career encompasses numerous senior roles within Education, Health Government and the Not-for-profit Sector. Most recently, Susan has held board positions including as chair of the Australian National Commission for UNESCO, chair of the National Education Board for Loreto and FCJ Schools, board member of Cabrini Health including chair of that organisation’s Patient Experience and Clinical Governance Committee and as Member of the board of the State Services Authority, Victoria. She is currently chair of the Australian Council for International Development.

Susan was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2007. She is also a Life Member of the Australian College of Educators and a Patron of the Parliament for the World’s Religions.

Susan has published extensively. In 2011 she published Leadership in Times of Crisis, Centre for Strategic Education Occasional Paper, Centre for Strategic Education, Melbourne and in 2015 she contributed ‘Administering Australia’s First National Charity Law Regime – Some Personal Perspectives’, to Not-for-profit Insights: 16 Australian NFP Insiders Share Their Wisdom and Experience, Australian Institute of Company Directors. In 2017 she contributed ‘The Digital Regulator’, to Regulating Charities: The Inside Story, Myles McGregor-Lowndes and Bob Wyatt (Eds), Routledge Studies in the Management of Voluntary and Non-Profit Organisations, New York. She is a contributing author of the forthcoming book Research Handbook on Not -for-Profit Law, Matthew Harding (Ed), Edward Elgar Publishing, London.
