Scott is an experienced strategy and operations consultant and a Certified Practising Accountant. He held senior finance and accounting roles with organisations including Woodside Energy and BHP Iron Ore and consulted with Deloitte before co-founding BaxterLawley.
Scott has undertaken an extensive range of projects in the commercial, government and not-for-profit sectors, primarily in the areas of planning, budgeting, reporting and performance measurement. His key strengths are his strategic and commercial focus, problem solving capability with particular focus on business process development and improvement, and substantial people, process and project management experience.
Scott is currently a Research Fellow with the John Curtin Institute of Public Policy, a Professional member to the National Standard Chart of Accounts Advisory Body established by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, a non-executive director of Australia-Cuba Business Council Ltd, a non-executive director of Community Arts Network WA Ltd, Treasurer of Sensorium Theatre Inc, and a member of the board of his children’s school. He regularly provides pro bono support to small organisations and mentors postgraduate students and social entrepreneurs.
Alongside consulting, Scott is retained by geospatial software developer Solais Geoinformatics as Chief Operating Officer. The role encompasses all financial matters in addition to product, market, and partner development. In particular, Scott is responsible for the identification of new business opportunities and the assessment of their strategic value, operational viability and financial viability.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration and is a Fellow of CPA Australia.
